Called silkscreen or silk screen printing traditionally, Screen Printing involves creating a stencil (or “screen”), and then using that stencil to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each color is applied using a different stencil, one colour at a time. To obtain a multi-colours image, repeated prints are combined to achieve the final look. There are advantages of using silk screen printing. They are:

  • Cost: Large runs of identical graphics can often be printed economically as compared with digital processes.
  • Resolution: Works well with small text and fine-line illustrations.
  • Versatility:  With special jig, screen printing works well with unusual shapes like specialty parts with large and/or high-profile objects.
  • Ink Adhesion:  There are different types of specialty inks that are formulated to work with individual substrates. Screen printed ink adheres much more permanently than digital inks to uncoated surfaces.
